Dream Recalls

2017

Inspired by forgotten dreams, Dream Recalls explores the duality of perception upon waking: one’s dreams as “lost” and “familiar.”

Fueled by memories of my mother’s Turkish dream dictionary and the intrigue of dream interpretation, I created a video that captures these contrasting states. In "lost," flashing lights, jarring sounds, and dark visuals convey an unsettling sense of disorientation. In "familiar," a softer tune and free-moving, uncovered figure evoke a calm self-discovery.

The visuals mimic DNA-like patterns, floating in a black and white palette that reflects the mystery of the subconscious mind and the fleeting intimacy of dreams upon waking.
