art@CMS
2015
art@CMS is an education and outreach programme of the CMS experiment at CERN.
This vernissage, the outcome of a science and art workshop bringing selected Ecolint students to CERN, aims to foster dialogue between the CMS science community and the art world.
Selected works exhibited at CERN
These two paintings were created as a response to my experience at CERN during the Ecolint-CMS science and art workshop, where the intersection of scientific discovery and artistic interpretation served as the foundation for my work.
Folds
2015 | watercolor on canvas | 100 × 100 cm
Created with dark watercolor and stretch film, Folds explores the vast emptiness of outer space—an expanse seemingly devoid of substance yet rich with obscured depth. The interplay of stretch film distorts the visual field, blurring clarity and masking what lies beneath.
The patterns created by the material suggest an illusion of expansion, as if the canvas extends beyond its physical boundaries. Wrinkles and folds ripple across the surface, layering space upon itself, reshaping perception, and hinting at unseen dimensions within the void.
ICE
2015 | watercolor on canvas | 100 × 100 cm
What would happen if time suddenly stopped? Movement interrupted by an unseen force.
The blue figures in this piece exist in that suspended moment, frozen as they take shape. Their edges blur, dissolving the suggestion of motion into stillness, as if time itself has fractured. The tension between movement and pause lingers, leaving an imprint of something unfinished, yet unchanging.
